Review of 'Ancient-Modern Bible NKJV' by Thomas Nelson

This Bible comes with a hard cover, gold sleeve to keep it in pristine condition.  Slipping it out, it is a beautiful white, hard cover, edition with gold lettering with black.  It doesn't really look like a typical Bible at all.  The size is at 6.5 x 8 x 1.5 inches, which is convenient for slipping in a bag to take with you. It's reasonably heavy still as to be expected.

Opening up you go straight to gold end papers with a 'This Bible Belongs To' set within the gold.  It has the usual introductory pages such as Contents, preface, intro and then has a title page for the Old Testament.  Each Chapter starts off with further information around that book of the Bible.  The scripture reads in one column on each page with a side column featuring  commentaries  from church thinkers past and present.  Also some biographies are included throughout.

This Bible has two ribbon markers, and some maps in the back.  Some things that really set it apart from other Bibles, aside from the commentaries would be the Supplemental Articles at the end.

These articles cover these topics:

Creation and Fall by Daniel Marrs
Meditating On His Word by Timothy Keller
The Church by Gerald Bray
Salvation and Union With Christ by Daniel Marrs
The Trinity by Fred Sanders
What The Whole World Is Waiting For by N. T. Wright

Following that it has a section titled 'Creeds of the church' which features:

The Apostles Creed
The Nicene Creed
The Chalcedonian Definition of the Faith
The Athanasian Creed

Readings for Advent, lent and easter

Then, this is a section I especially love : 'Art of The Church'.  It features some key art pieces over the years and talks about them and their meanings/messages etc.  Featuring some Caravaggio and Michelangelo and others, it's just beautiful!

The font is really nice throughout too, it's the new 'comfort print' which is very clear.  The print size is 8.5, so it is fairly small but the font certainly makes it easier to read at that size than other fonts.

In summary, I do really like this Bible and would recommend it!  It is full of interesting extras.

Please note that I was sent a copy of this Bible in exchange for review, however all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
