Review of 'Holy Roar' CD by Chris Tomlin

After having this playing over and over in the car for the last few days, I feel ready to give this a review.  This CD starts off well with the album title song 'Holy Roar', one I hadn't heard before.  In fact the only one I am familiar with, before hearing the CD, is 'Resurrection Power' which is on the radio a lot, and comes in at track 3.  As usual, for Chris Tomlin, the lyrics are just beautifully written and uplifting.

About half way through the CD to the end, the melodies aren't quite as catchy or interesting but the lyrics are still excellent.  Praise is the Highway, the second to last track, pulls it back a bit again with catchiness of melody (plus a great message to have going through your head through the day too).

Chris Tomlin has written some very standout songs in the past, but for me, this CD didn't contain any of that calibre, however it is still nice encouraging, worship music. In my opinion the melodies were too similar.

So if you are wanting music that is uplifting, encouraging and turns your heart toward God, then get this CD.  If you are looking for an album full of catchy single type material, you may want to give this a pass.  For me, I wouldn't buy this album, there wasn't enough on there that I loved.
