Review of 'VeggieTales Every Day with God 365 Daily Devos for Boys' by Worthy Kids

This is a small paperback book with colorful numbered pages within.  Each page represents a day up to 365 then following that are some pages called 'Know it by Heart' with memory verses on each page.

The illustrations are based on the VeggieTales In The House characters of Bob and Larry rather than the original. Probably not really much difference to most of you but the characters eyes are different and they appear more digitized than the Bob and Larry on the original VeggieTales shows.  As an artist, I admit that this bothers me a bit as I wonder why they can't just keep the original Bob and Larry.  The digitizing cheapens the images to me - but that's just my opinion, the stories are just as good!

Each devotion has a simple scripture to start.  I notice the scriptures vary from translation to translation.  Scanning through I can see scriptures from NASB, TLB, CEV, NLT, NCV, HCSB, Message, ESV, KJV, ICB, ESV, NIV, NKJV.  So there is a broad range.  With each of these, they have obviously sought the differing translations to get the simplest, most easiest to understand version of each verse.  There is an application and thought of the day in each days devotional and a simple prayer at the end.

The whole book is illustrated brightly with Veggie Tales characters on each devotional page.

This is a great little book and as it is intended for parents to read to their children each day, I imagine you could start as soon as your child likes to sit still for a few minutes for a story... and can talk too would help!    I got the one for 'boys' but there is also a girls one available.  I am not 100% sure on the difference between the two aside from the color of the covers.
